Lake Nasser is located in Egypt.

Lake Nasser is a man-made body of water and one of the world’s most significant man-made bodies of water.

Divided into two halves, the bulk belonging to the Egyptian side (83 percent) and the remainder belonging to Sudanese territory (the remaining 13 percent).

As it is known, Lake Nubia is a refuge for many Sudanese refugees who were forced to flee their homes due to the Nile’s historic floods.

Steps to Take:

It takes around 3 hours to drive from the city of Aswan, 6 hours to travel from Luxor, and 1 hour to fly from Cairo to Abu Simbel, located on Lake Nasser.

A brief history:

The Nubian communities who had lived along the Nile for thousands of years lost their homes, land, and much of their rich cultural heritage due to the dams and lake.

But many ancient monuments were relocated to the drier ground with the assistance of the international community and other organizations.

Among them is the Temple of the Mandulis in Kalabsha, which receives little attention.

As shown by the combination of styles on the beautiful wall carvings on the walls, this healing Temple is devoted to the Nubian fertility deity Marul (Mandulis in Greek)

was primarily restored during the Ptolemaic-Roman era.

The picturesque Ptolemaic Kiosk of Kertassi and the modest rock-hewn Temple of Beit al wali are just across the street from one another.

Built-in memory of Ramses II, who is shown on the reliefs in a fight with the rebellious Nubians, this structure was dedicated to the Pharaoh.

It is only possible to visit the fascinating but more isolated temple groupings of Wadi al Sebua, Dakka, and Amanda,

as well as the fortress site of Qasr Ibrim, aboard a luxury cruise ship, new roads are being constructed to connect them.

Fishing excursions on the lake’s clear waters, home to a few crocodiles, the elusive tiger fish, and the massive Nile perch, one of the world’s biggest freshwater fish, are becoming more popular.

With multiple international events hosted each year in Lake Nasser, fishing has also become a viral recreational activity at the lake.
