History:

The Ben-Ezra Synagogue is located just east of the Church of Saint Sergius and Bacchus and next to the Church of Saint Barbara.

Once a Coptic church, but was sold to the Jews when Ahmed Ibn Tulun demanded money from Patriarch Michael III and received it in exchange.

Being known as Cairo’s oldest synagogue, it had a collection of Jewish documents that were incredibly essential and useful to the Jewish religion at the time.
It was referred to as the Synagogue of the Palestinians, and it was also said to be the location where infant Moses had been discovered.
The priceless records were eventually saved, and many of them may now be viewed in Cambridge, England, where they serve as intellectual reading for young Jewish students in the area.
