The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is set to officially open its doors to the public on November 1, 2025. This long-awaited event will mark one of the most significant cultural milestones in modern Egypt.
The museum has already begun hosting limited “soft opening” tours, giving visitors a preview of its stunning architecture and partial exhibits. Once fully open, visitors will enjoy the complete Tutankhamun collection, world-class galleries, and modern facilities that bring ancient history to life. The grand opening is expected to draw international attention and visitors from across the globe.
The museum is located in Giza, at El-Remayah Square, near the start of the Cairo Alexandria Desert Road. It sits just 2 kilometers from the Great Pyramid of Khufu, providing breathtaking views of the Giza Plateau. Its strategic location connects modern Cairo with ancient history, making it easy to include in a day trip to the Pyramids of Giza.
The site is accessible by car, taxi, or organized tour, and many travel agencies include it in their Grand Egyptian Museum tours or Cairo day trips. Parking and visitor facilities are also available on-site.
Ticket prices for the Grand Egyptian Museum vary depending on nationality and type of access. For foreign visitors, admission is expected to cost around $40 USD, while Egyptian nationals and residents enjoy discounted rates. During the soft opening phase, guided tours and partial-access tickets are available at a reduced price.
Special packages, family passes, and group tickets may also be offered upon full opening. It’s always best to check the official GEM website or your Cairo Egypt Tours package for updates before visiting; prices are subject to change in dollars.
