Prepare for an extraordinary day exploring the captivating Fayoum Oasis, Egypt’s largest oasis, on this unforgettable day tour. Known for its fertile landscape and rich history, Fayoum was once revered as the domain of Sobek, the crocodile god. Over the centuries, it has flourished, partly due to the visionary reforms introduced by Muhammad Ali Pasha almost two centuries ago. Our first stop is the charming village of Tunis.
Here, you’ll immerse yourself in the art of pottery, learning about traditional techniques passed down through generations. This picturesque village showcases Fayoum’s artisan heritage in a truly unique setting. Next, enjoy the stunning views of Lake Qarun, one of the world’s oldest natural lakes and Egypt's third largest. Take in the tranquility and beauty of this ancient lake, a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
At midday, we’ll indulge in a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Tunis Village, followed by a visit to Wadi El Rayan, a true natural wonder. Declared a protected area in 1989, Wadi El Rayan sits about 42 meters below sea level and is renowned for its unique ecosystem. As a highlight of your visit, you’ll witness Egypt’s only waterfalls, connecting two majestic lakes formed by diverted agricultural runoff in the 1970s. These enchanting waterfalls create a stunning oasis in the desert, a spectacle like no other.
During your time in Fayoum, you’ll also have the chance to try sandboarding on the golden dunes of Wadi El Rayan—an exhilarating adventure that promises unforgettable memories. As the day winds down, we’ll return to Cairo, concluding this remarkable journey with an approximately two-hour road trip back.
